Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy?
The SBLC is a nonprofit land conservation organization founded in 1997 in Bay City, Michigan. We are a land trust that protects nearly 6,000 acres of land, provides stewardship and restoration for natural lands across our region, and serves as a land use safety net in our community. We work in Michigan's Saginaw Bay Watershed, which comprises 15% of our state and is home to 1.4 million residents in the center of the "mitten" in our beautiful lower peninsula. We are a staff of four with a broad portfolio of projects. You can find us online HERE.
How much does a Neighborhood Inventory cost?
It depends! Usually around an average of $1.20 per parcel surveyed. You can find more information about pricing HERE.
Can you tell me how we might use the Neighborhood Inventory?
There are many ways to employ an SBLC Neighborhood Inventory. Here are a few examples.
Does the survey invade privacy?
No. No information is collected beyond street, eye-level view. SBLC surveyors do not invade private property and collect only the data that can be observed from the public view. The SBLC also does not distribute or make this data available to the general public. The service is designed for the SBLC to develop the survey, collect the data, populate the inventory database, and prepare reports on demand from partners.
How often does the survey need to be updated?
For maximum effectiveness and the most accurate information, the overall community survey should be redone every two years. Also, known changes that take place within that window should be recorded as they happen.
